Janet D. Poleet, 89, of East Alton passed away, Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra.  She was born April 10, 1933 in Missouri to Jesse and Maurine (Sanders) Swallow.  Janet was retired from Kmart in Wood River where she worked from 1971 – 1998.  She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed crafting, reading and bingo in her free time.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Johnson of East Alton; sons, Paul (Tina) Poleet of Pine, AZ and Bob Poleet of Slater, MO; five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Poleet; brother, Jesse Swallow; sister, JoAnn Goodman; son-in-law, Bob Zumbaum and former husband, Donald Poleet.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon, Monday, August 15, 2022 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.  Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.  Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.  Online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com.
