East Alton—Charlotte "Jean" Cunningham, 101, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024

Born Nov. 2, 1922 in Charleston, WV, she was a daughter of Frank and Blanch (Richardson) Bennett.

A member of the First United Methodist Church of East Alton, she also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Jean married Billy Cunningham Dec. 31, 1948 in East Alton.  He passed away Aug. 11, 2013.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Cunningham of Ellisville, MO and Pam (Roger) Romani of Wood River; her grandchildren, Heather Stevens of East Alton, Tracy Haselhorst of Rotunda West, FL, Dennis Edwards of East Alton, Chris Edwards of South Roxana, Holly Daemon of Omaha, NE, and Sarah Edwards of Wood River; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Jean Goodman; a grandson, David Spencer; a sister, Millie Stark; and two brothers, Charles Bennett and Lou Ribblett.

Visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals on Friday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the East Alton United Methodist Church.
