Eldred, IL—Jonathan Thomas Laing, 24, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025 at his home.

Born Apr. 3, 2001 in Jerseyville, he was a son of Jason C. Laing of Fenton, MO and the late Dawnya Kay (Smith) Laing.

Jonathan worked as a fiber optics lineman.  He loved anything outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing golf.  He also played in a softball league most summers with his childhood friends.  Poker nights were special at Aunt GG and Uncle Pedro's house. He loved making people laugh and was a bold person, not afraid to talk to anyone, although occasionally he felt the need to escape on his four-wheeler.

He was a loyal and protective friend and family member, and along with his father, he is survived by his fiancé Gracie Pohlman of Eldred; two brothers, Austin (Rose) Laing of Carrollton and Mathew (Cindy) Laing of Glendora, CA; a sister, Ashley (Chris) Hanlon of Alton.  He was very proud of all his nieces and nephews, Cooper, Case, Presley, Mason, Patrick, Madison, Ruthie, Cora and Caroline.  In addition, he leaves behind beloved pets, Punky, Ryder, Goose, and Toby.

A celebration of Jonathan's life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at the Mount Hope Barn in Michael, IL.
