Michael "Mike"
W. Jordan
Jan 31, 1940 — Oct 19, 2023
Moro - Michael W. "Mike" Jordan, 83 passed away Thursday, Oct 19, 2023 in his home.
Born Jan. 31, 1940 in St. Louis, he was a son of Michael William "Bill" and Sylvia (Hullverson) Jordan
A U.S. Army veteran, Mike worked for Shell Oil Co. for 10 years and later for Olin for 35 years. He was a proud member of the NRA since 1968, a member of the Amateure Trapshooting Association (ATA), and the Brittany Shooting Park in Gillespie. Mike was a world-class shotgun shooter. He was the Michael Jordan of the shooting industry - he even had a better "shooting average" than the tall one. He was inducted into the Hall of Fames for both the State of Illinois and the ATA. Mike won two cars in one year for his shooting, and was pictured on the cover of Trap and Field Magazine at least twice in his career. In addition to shooting, Mike was an avid fisherman and golfer. He traveled all over the country doing what he loved, but two of his favorite places were Odessa, Fl where he and Julie spent their winters among countless friends, and Sparta, IL, close to his family and home in Moro.
Survivors include his son, Tyler M Jordan and his family, Gen Jordan and Kirk Starns of Zephyrhills, FL; a sister Mary (Merle) Brase of Moro; a brother, David (Donna) Jordan of Rosewood Heights; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved life partner, Julia Vitalie and her children, Jon, Jamie and Jacole, as well as her grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Michele Jordan; a brother William Jordan; and Julia's daughter Jennifer.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 5 at Paynic Home for Funerals.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memoriam to Brittany Shooting Park for their Hall of Fame Building or for their Youth Shooting programs.
