East Alton—Rhonda Jean Austill, 74, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026 at her home.

Born March 8, 1952 in Alton and raised in Alhambra, she was a daughter of Robert Gene and Wilma Lee (Withers) Lucas.

Rhonda worked for a time at Olin Corp., and later as a server at the Alton Belle Casino.  Most recently she tended bar at Don's No-Man's Land and the Dugout Lounge.  She was the life of any party, and loved making people laugh.  She had no filter and would tell it like it is.  She was willing to jump in on any adventure, and in her life, she never met a stranger.

Survivors include her daughter, Jamie (Joseph) Howk of Collinsville and her son, Michael Long; two granddaughters; a sister, Lorrie Canup of Washington; a brother, Russell Lucas of New Mexico; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Rodney and Joey Lucas.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Paynic Home for Funerals, with cremation to follow.
