Bethalto—Walter Richard "Cholock" Foster, 85, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at his home.

Born Sept. 15, 1939 in Hamburg, IL, he was the only child of Walter K. "Pud" and Marguerite (Tolbert) Foster.

Richard worked for 39 ½ years as a steelworker for Laclede Steel.  After he retired, he enjoyed tinkering with and repairing mowers and small engines in his garage.  He liked having breakfast with his friends and attended a monthly breakfast with his old Laclede buddies.

He is survived by several children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lela (Booth); and his son, Walter "Ricky" Foster, Jr.

A Celebration of Richard's Life will be at a later date at New Witness Fellowship in Meadowbrook, and then he will be laid to rest at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg.
