Robert Crawford Brown, 84, of Wood River passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at River Crossing Edwardsville, IL.

He was born Nov. 29, 1938 in Alton to Julius and Miriam (Crawford) Brown.

Robert married Anita Jan Martin on Oct. 28, 1961.  Jan passed away on April 28, 2010.

Robert is survived by a daughter: Alison Maguire; a son: Robert Crawford Brown, Jr.; a grandson; Jacob Maguire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister Alice Jane Nevlin; brother-in-law Ted Norman; brother Julius "Bud" Brown; wife Jan Brown; sister Miriam "Sis" Norman; and his grandson Alexander Crawford Maguire.

Robert would not want anyone to be sad about his passing, so instead of a funeral service, his family will hold a Celebration of Life at Johnson's Corner, 2000 State Street in Alton on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023 at 1 p.m.  A private service will be held at a later date.
