Ryan Joseph McCarthy, 42, of Alton passed away Wednesday March 19, 2025 at his home.  He was born September 30, 1982 in Alton.  He worked for Orthopedic Solutions for 20 years as the warehouse operations manager.  He most recently worked in the Automotive Dept at Walmart Carbondale.

Ryan was a huge baseball fan.  He loved the Cardinals and was extremely talented at sports trivia.  He was a gifted drummer and he enjoyed demonstrating his skill on the drums to the enjoyment of everyone who heard him.  One of his great joys was coaching his son's baseball team.

He is survived by his son, PFC Connor McCarthy of Hawaii; mother, Sandra (Masterson) McCarthy of Alton; father, John and his wife Jan McCarthy of Jacksonville; sister Mari Beth and her husband Chris Carstens of Alton and nieces, Amanda (Carstens) and her husband Charlie Kautz of Nashville, TN and Abbi (Carstens) and her husband AJ Dadon of St. Louis and nephew, Zach and his wife Jessica Standefer of Maryville.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer McCarthy.
