Irving, IL—Mark Steve "Hollywood" McGown, 74, passed away Friday, October 23, 2026 at his home.

Born Nov. 8, 1951 in Springfield, IL, he was a son of Robert and Norma (Fuiten) McGown.

A U.S. Army veteran, Steve worked 20 years in the Street Department for the City of Virden, retiring in 2015.  He enjoyed fishing and buying and tinkering on old pickup trucks.  He was easily recognized in his 1972 Chevy pickup, wearing his cap.

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Harrison) McGown.  They were married Oct. 19, 1995 in Lexington, MO.  Also surviving are two sons, Robert (Jess) McGown of Peoria and Cam McGown of Bloomington; three grandchildren; a brother, John Ed McGown of Virden; several nieces and nephews, in particular Revy and Kylie; and of course, his beloved beagle Zella.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Michael McGown, Terry McGown, and Robin McGown.

Steve's family will hold a Celebration of his Life at a future date.
