Obituary

Wayne Allen Parcel was born on March 25, 1942, in Florissant, MO. He was the son of Albert Joseph and Audrey Margaret (Hoffmeister) Parcel.

Wayne passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, several days after celebrating his 84th birthday. He was at home, surrounded by his adoring family.

Wayne grew up in Florissant, and he worked for National Foods for over 34 years retiring in 1995. He was a great athlete and although he loved all sports, his favorites were the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and golf. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing often with friends and family.

He was married to the love of his life, Rita Louise Parcel, for over 47 years. Together they built their home here in East Alton, and they knit together a blended family with a bond of unconditional love.

Wayne was loving and kind, and he was a jokester. He told stories that often left one wondering whether he was telling the truth. He usually was not, but it didn't matter because it was all in good fun and he was entertaining. He had a way of making people feel special, and he was a favorite of so many; his children's and grandkid's friends, waitresses, cashiers, neighbors, nurses, and doctors, …

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Louise Parcel; children, Chris (Joe) Randazzo of O'Fallon, MO, Sherri (Steve) of East Alton, Kim (Tim) Obenhaus of St. Charles, MO, Tim (Terri) Bryant of Wood River; grandchildren, Brandon (Amber), Alisha (Ron), Joey (Lindsey), Aaron (Heather), Nikki (Jeff), Justin (Toni), Amanda, Jessica, Christopher, Ryan (Megan), Taylor, Cori (Patrick), Tanner (Aaron), Kendal, and Kayla. Twenty great-grandchildren; four bonus grandchildren; eleven bonus great-grandchildren; and two bonus great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Linda (Harvel) Wallace of Granite City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darwyn Bryant; grandson, Evan Obenhaus, and his great-grandchild, Asher Lucas Ryan Yates.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at noon on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
