Our Story

George J. Paynic was born and raised in the Riverbend area. From humble beginnings of working in his dad's shoe repair shop in Wood River, he met and dealt with many people. He started in the funeral business January 1, 1955. From the start, many people came to trust George with their loved ones. On June 25, 1989, George opened the doors of his Home for Funerals in the unincorporated area of East Alton known as Rosewood Heights. The unassuming building has become a home for people to honor loved ones.

In May of 2011, George ensured the continued tradition of caring by entrusting his beloved Home for Funerals to Steven Lundstrom and Daniel Wojcikiewicz, both established area funeral directors. They, along with longtime employees Dayne Marshall and Donna Stimac, continue to care for the families that trust them with that which is most special.
